Thermann hot water repairs in Melbourne, 24/7, no hourly meter

If you've never heard of Thermann until you read the label on your hot water unit, you're not alone. It's the hot water brand sold through Reece, so it's usually a plumber who picks it, not the homeowner. That makes it a common find in Melbourne homes, units and renovations. OnCall Emergency Plumbers repairs and replaces Thermann hot water systems across Melbourne, any hour, with one price for the job that you approve first.

Before you call: what to tell us

A two-minute look at the unit helps us send a plumber who's ready for your job.

  1. What type is it? A tank (storage) or a slim box on the wall (continuous flow)? Gas or electric?
  2. What does the label say? Snap a photo of the model details on the side of the unit.
  3. Is it leaking? If so, switch off the power or gas to the unit and turn off the cold water valve if it's safe to reach.
  4. Is there a code? On a continuous flow unit, note any number on the display or controller.
  5. Any gas smell? Isolate the gas at the meter first, then call.

That's it. We'll do the rest.

Thermann hot water service: the systems we work on

Thermann systemWhere you'll find itWhat tends to go wrong
Gas storageOutside walls and side passages of family homesPilot won't stay lit, burner faults, dripping relief valve, leaking tank
Electric storageLaundries, units, homes on off-peak powerFailed element or thermostat, tripping power, slow to heat
Continuous flowNewer gas homes and renovationsError codes, ignition faults, water swinging hot and cold

If yours is a different Thermann system, call anyway. We work on all makes and models, and we'll tell you straight if it's something we can sort.

Thermann continuous flow repair

Continuous flow units heat water as it passes through, so when something fails, the hot water stops straight away. The unit will usually show an error code. Codes differ between models, so the number is a starting point for your plumber rather than a diagnosis you can look up.

Try one reset at the controller. If the code returns, stop there. Repeatedly resetting a gas appliance can mask the real fault. Tell us the code when you call.

On site, we check the gas supply to the unit, the water flow and filter, the ignition and flame sensing, and the fan and flue. Low gas pressure or a partly blocked filter can look like a failed unit, so we rule those out before replacing parts. More on continuous flow hot water repairs.

Thermann gas and electric storage repairs

Gas storage. A pilot that keeps going out usually points to the thermocouple, gas control or flue. Lukewarm water with the burner running suggests a thermostat issue or sediment. All gas work is carried out by licensed plumbers, with gas safety checks before we leave. See gas hot water repairs.

Electric storage. No hot water often means a failed element or thermostat. A unit that trips the power may have a shorted element. If the fault is in the house wiring, not the unit, we'll tell you that you need an electrician. See electric hot water repairs.

Either type. Water around the base of the tank is the one to take seriously. A tank leaking from the base usually can't be repaired.

The OnCall way: assess, explain, approve, fix

We find the actual fault, not the most expensive one. You hear what's wrong in plain English. You get a clear price for the job on site, and you decide whether to go ahead. Then we fix it and test every hot tap, the temperature and the safety valve before we leave.

Warranty: check with the manufacturer first

If your Thermann is still under the manufacturer's warranty, check with the manufacturer before booking a repair. Warranty repairs usually go through the manufacturer's own service network. We're an independent plumbing business, and we're here for out-of-warranty repairs and urgent jobs that can't wait.

Thermann replacement

When the tank is leaking, the unit is over 10–15 years old, or the repairs keep coming, a new system usually makes more sense. We'll show you why before recommending it.

You can replace your Thermann with a similar unit, or use the change to rethink your setup. We'll look at household size, water use, whether you have gas or off-peak power, and long-term running costs. Then we safely remove the old unit, install and test the new one, and commission it. See hot water system replacement. If you're weighing up a heat pump or solar, our guide to hot water rebates in Victoria explains which schemes to check.

Pricing for Thermann repairs

We charge by the job, not by the hour. Your plumber assesses the unit and gives you a clear price, with options explained, before any work starts. See hot water repair cost.
